9 - Look delicious

Another nice looking box of chicken. The color is a little off but pieces are pretty uniform and it looks like they are cooked just right. 9

score=9 very pretty box

8 very nice portions; however more orange than brown could be a little on sweeter if sauce has some extra sugar

8 that orange color just doesn't look right to me and i would like to see a little char on the skin. shape and size look good. otherwise, looks pretty good!

9 - The chicken is appetizing and looks good!

8. - The shadow in the front may give the front thighs the appearance of being darker than those in the back. May be higher in person. May be a bit oversauved too. Nice big meaty thighs. I want one!

9 - Pretty chicken

Color is uneven, but that might be from the lighting in the photo. The skin on the piece in the lower right has pulled back. I'd give this box an 8.

A 9! Good spacing and layout. Even color and size. Look moist. Yummy.

7 - too light - any smoke at all?

Color looks pale. May be undercooked. Nice sauce. No real outstanding features thats needed for a higher score......7

6 My first impression was the meat was too red and appeared to be raw. It was not appealing and did not make me want to eat it.

Nice box, uniform size, maybe a scorch mark here and there, solid 8 maybe 9 in person
12/20/2012 12:28:40 am
Score: 9; Like to see the meat, might want to spend a bit more time on presentation in box. Consider using both lettuce and parseley.
12/20/2012 06:36:11 am
Score 8. I believe this entry would score a nine in person and this is a bad (over exposed) picture. At least the judges can determine that it is chicken and actually see the meat.

9 - These are 6 awesome looking pieces of chicken. Perfectly arranged in the container.

9, that's some nice looking chicken, it's nice to chicken that's not completely symmetrical and looks like it was made in a factory.

SCORE/REASONS FOR SCORE: Score this entry and give reasons for your score. DO NOT mention garnish or smoke rings in your reasons for scoring. We judge meat only.

The purpose of BBQ Critic's JudgeMyBox section is to provide feedback to competition cooks. Certified BBQ Judges who visit this site will score the photo of a contest box (using KCBS judging rules) and may optionally leave a comment explaining their score.
The idea is to allow the cook to get inside the mind of a judge (judges do have varying opinions) so they can use this information to help improve scores on APPEARANCE.
In turn, the BBQ Critic editorial team will provide feedback on some judge scores and commentary that stray from the KCBS rules. This will help our judges become better judges and keeps everyone on the same page. Judges may also encounter some fun challenges at times (click for example).
Comments about boxes or judges scores may be discussed in our online FORUM in a respectful manner.
Please be mindful that scoring photo boxes may not be as accurate as scoring the box in person. Lighting, glare, angles, etc may affect the overall score. Judges also have more time to stare at your box, so that means we may get very detailed about the good and the bad.
Have fun, judges! Oh, and cooks? Please send us your boxes. We love to judge Q here at BBQ Critic. ;-)
