Score this box an 8, possibly a 9 in person. The pork slices on the left look a little dry but may be the picture's fault. Otherwise, nice layout and pork looks inviting.

This is a textbook box. Nice slices, juicy looking pulled with lots of bark. I want to taste this one.

9
Nice mix of bark and moist pork on the right. Great bark on the slices too.

8 looks good to me

include pulled, chunk and sliced in box to demonstrate that meat covers all bases!

I give this box a 9, Meat is neat and well layout. Makes me want to dig in a try it.

Score 8
The pulled pork with the burnt ends on top look delicous to eat. The other peice pales in comparision. They look a tad dry and not very shiny.

7 - pulled could be neater.

Jeff T - CBJ/KCBS

Give it an 8, meat looks very moist and appetizing. The pulled side has the right amount of bark to balance the appearance. The slices look great. The smaller slice to the front takes away from the presentation a bit, so selecting another slice or rearranging the order of the slices might have pushed this to a 9,

9- Great bark on slices and pulled. Arranged well : is orderly and uniform, moist appearance. Excellent looking box!

Score/Reasons = 9. Almost looks a little overcooked but giving the cook the benefit of the doubt. Nice light saucing will complement the meat.

Suggestions/Comments = Try to keep the bark even on the slices.

8.....Nice bark. Meat looks moist. M/M slices the same size.

Put in a little more pulled pork. Reverse the slices so the nice looking one's are in front and the ragged ones are in the back.

Score/reason = 9/meat looks delicious; not too saucy and appears nice and tender!

Suggestions/Comments = Make sure the edges of your medallions are cleaned up and loose bits are not obvious.

9 Oh My !!! Absolutely Amazing ! great color ...great bark .. IM full and I would love to eat all of that pork !

Dick-MCBJ/CTC

Score 8. Reason: the only reason I deduct one point was due to the slices looking mushy or possibly overcooked. This may not be the case and if I was to actually see them it may score nine.

Dennis Mc

Score = 9
Comment = Really nice bark and ring on money muscle. The pulled pieces looked juicy. Some judges might mark down because the sliced portions were not the same size. The bottom one was a lot smaller than the other slices.

Score/Resaons: 7 - MM meat looks dry & pulled met looks in disarrray.

Suggestions/Comments: Moisten up the meat and tidy up the pulled. This could become a very nice looking box.

8. Good layout. Looks moist. nice colour. Nice bark on pulled but could use a bit more to offset larger pieces which dominate box.

This entry simply looks delicious ! Nice and neat appearance as well. Deserving of a 9.
Side note: just the right amount ( and type ) of garnish too.

I would score this box a 9.

Suggestion: even out the pile of pulled. Looks great!

Score = 7

I like the variation of the sliced and pulled pieces but slices look a little dull. Though the slices appear moist and uniform, the pulled pieces look more brighter and appear to standout in the presentation. I would be interested in seeing how these pieces taste.

Score/Reasons = 8 - I like the slices, pulled and the dark ends in the presentation. Only problem is that the presentation looks like all the others.

Suggestions/Comments = Change up the way the meat is presented, make it unique.

    Purpose

The purpose of BBQ Critic's JudgeMyBox section is to provide feedback to competition cooks. Certified BBQ Judges who visit this site will score the photo of a contest box (using KCBS judging rules) and may optionally leave a comment explaining their score.

The idea is to allow the cook to get inside the mind of a judge (judges do have varying opinions) so they can use this information to help improve scores on APPEARANCE.

In turn, the BBQ Critic editorial team will provide feedback on some judge scores and commentary  that stray from the KCBS rules. This will help our judges become better judges and keeps everyone on the same page. Judges may also encounter some fun challenges at times (click for example).

Comments about boxes or judges scores may be discussed in our online FORUM in a respectful manner.

Please be mindful that scoring photo boxes may not be as accurate as scoring the box in person. Lighting, glare, angles, etc may affect the overall score. Judges also have more time to stare at your box, so that means we may get very detailed about the good and the bad.

Have fun, judges! Oh, and cooks? Please send us your boxes. We love to judge Q here at BBQ Critic. ;-)
