Money looks a bit buried in the garnish and the chucks are blotchy. The back chunk is odd looking

Can't see the muscle slices. Need to chevron them. We're seeing less and less of actual pulled pork. Like the sliced muscle but everbody is also presenting hunks. Would like to see more pulled/shredded

Nice bark on the money muscle. Probably the picture but the top plus looks a little mangled. Good box. I like the arrangement but would tighten it up a bit to get a 9.

Nice color on the money muscle, but it looks like it is nestled down in to the garnish. Also the sauce on the chunks looks a little uneven. I'd give this box an 8.

The box is weighted too much to the right. Out of balance. The slices look really nice, the chunks are ok but not special.

This is an interesting combination money muscel the most suclent part and on the right side the most stringey and tasteless part of the butt. Their many other parts of a butt that are thender and more flavorful. Appearance 8

7-8. picture is a little washed out, so not the best picture to judge from. I'd like to see the sliced meat fanned out a little to view the meat, not just the bark.

Suggestion - Your garnish is distracting because of all the stems I see. Also, not sure if it is sauce or the garnish is old and discolored on the tips, but that doesn't make your box look any better.

Score: 8 - Money muscle is evenly sliced and has excellent color, pulled chunks look moist and tasty but have too much sauce for me.

Not perfect, but pretty dadgum good looking to me! I'm not crazy about lots of sauce on pork, but I can't help but think that these chunks will have LOTS of moistness and flavor - which helps the appearance score. I want some!

The pulled looks to have to much sauce that is not even on them. I prefer if the pulled was smaller. Also the slices appear to be over coooked.

    Purpose

    The purpose of BBQ Critic's JudgeMyBox section is to provide feedback to competition cooks. Certified BBQ Judges who visit this site will score the photo of a contest box (using KCBS judging rules) and may optionally leave a comment explaining their score.

    The idea is to allow the cook to get inside the mind of a judge (judges do have varying opinions) so they can use this information to help improve scores on APPEARANCE.

    In turn, the BBQ Critic editorial team will provide feedback on some judge scores and commentary  that stray from the KCBS rules. This will help our judges become better judges and keeps everyone on the same page. Judges may also encounter some fun challenges at times (click for example).

    Comments about boxes or judges scores may be discussed in our online FORUM in a respectful manner.

    Please be mindful that scoring photo boxes may not be as accurate as scoring the box in person. Lighting, glare, angles, etc may affect the overall score. Judges also have more time to stare at your box, so that means we may get very detailed about the good and the bad.
